BEAUTIFUL late summer sunshine and queues of people made Brentor village show the best ever.

The 286 entries to the show were the highest recorded and it was a swinging afternoon.

A joint project with the Mary Tavy and Brentor Primary School gave a tremendously colourful selection of drawing and colouring exhibits for ?My Favourite Teddy Bear?.

The Select Four Jazz band, cream teas, stalls and side shows kept everyone of all ages entertained and the enjoyable afternoon rounded off with a grand auction by David Kivell of the exhibits of fresh flowers, fruit, vegetables and cookery.

Cup winners received their prizes from David Kivell with residents almost sweeping the board.

Cup winners were: best in show, Jane Osborne, resident; craft, Patricia Beaver, resident; potted plants; Poppy Arnold; floral art, Anne Clarke, resident; cut flowers, Rosie Arnold, resident; fruit and vegetables, Adrian Arnold, resident; photography, Mike Whitfield, resident; best men?s cake, Eric Rhodes, resident.

Awards were also give to: resident with most points, jointly, Jane Osborne and Adrian Arnold; non-resident with most points, Poppy Arnold; child with most points, Tess Osborne, resident.

All proceeds of the day will be donated to the Village Hall Kitchen Improvement Fund and everyone is looking forward to next year.
