THERE were smiles all round at the Midsummer Festival held in North Tawton recently, as the sun shone and people joined in the fun.

The annual event, which raises money for the upkeep of the town hall, attracted plenty of people.

Organiser Lyn Ford, the town hall secretary, said: ?It went very well and was well attended ? we had a lovely day.?

Stalls at the open air market were decorated in style, to a coronation theme. The winner of the best decorated stall prize went to the Royal British Legion, with the runner-up prize being taken by Lakeway.

Children joined in the coronation theme in a crown-making competition. Winner in the under fives section was Marnie Ponsford, runner up was Jack Ryan. In the fives to sevens age group, the winner was Hannah Budd, with Jessica Knott as runner up.

A quiz which was run throughout the festival was won by Stella Cole ? Jan Seaton was runner up.

And in the ?spot the deliberate mistake? in the shop windows of the town, prizes were won by Irene Ward and Nicola Compton.

The events were rounded off with a dance during the evening and a grand draw.
