BELSTONE travelled to Mt Edgcumbe on Sunday for a friendly with the match ending in a draw. Belstone lost the toss and were asked to bat first. Two wickets fell before a run was on the board as Moore (8-2-20-2) and S Ware (8-3-34-1) bowled well. Belstone?s recovery was led by Wayne Pearce (60) and Phil Woods (58) with Woods in particular punishing some wayward bowling. After Woods was dismissed, Chris Gomersall (50) took on the bowlers with a hard hitting half-century containing three 6s and six 4s. Belstone declared their innings on 212/6. Mt Edgcumbe made a steady start in response to Belstone?s total with the visitors? opening bowlers Jonathan Parsons (10-1-31-1) and Harry Bushin (10-2-28-1) bowling tightly. Most of the home team?s batsmen made starts but none of them went on to post a large score. The best of Belstone?s bowlers was Andrew Paterson (12-1-46-4) who troubled all the Mt Edgcumbe batsmen. After the home team?s 9th wicket fell, there were three overs left for Belstone to clinch victory. However, Mt Edgecumbe held on to finish on 170/9. This Saturday Belstone entertain Yeovil College in a friendly and on Sunday travel to Buckfastleigh for a South Devon league match.
