A SUNNY day last week brought crowds of people to the Spooners and West Dartmoor Country Show who helped make the day a resounding success.

With almost 200 horse entries the judges had their work cut out deciding on the winner of each class.

Organisers said it was lovely to see the side saddle classes again this year with the costume class being deemed the most spectacular class of all. They introduced two re-trained racehorse classes this year, the winner of which went on to take the 'supreme champion of show'.

Spooners and West Dartmoor Hunt expressed thanks to all the sponsors who supported the 2009 show and a special thank you to Jackson Stopps Staffs for the £100 supreme championship prize and Dimson Day Nursery for their sponsorship of the Gymkhana games.

The hunt also thanked the volunteers who helped with both the preparation of the show.

Morris dancers entertained visitors during lunchtime, and the Vintage Military Vehicles Museum put their vehicles on display.
