FOLLOWING a week's break, Okehampton Cycle Club's summer time trial series resumed last Thursday with six riders taking up the challenge to ride against the clock.

In good weather it was Brian Dixon who achieved the fastest time of the night covering the 11.2 miles in 29.39.

In a rare appearance Andy Retter came second with 31.27 and Mike Rice was third clocking 33.50.

Special mention must be given to Robert Szembek who was tackling the course for the first time and achieved a commendable time of 42.36.

Five club members took part in a 25-mile time trial organised by Mid-Devon Cycle Club with a large field of more than 50 competitors on the A38 starting south of Buckfastleigh to Chudleigh Bridge and back.

Winning time was 54.39 and fastest club member was Steve Sage with 57.43. Despite taking a wrong turning Brian Dixon was next with 1.5.54.

There was club success and an award for Jacky Rice who was the fastest lady rider clocking 1.9.43, leaving her nearest rival trailing over four minutes behind.
