CHILDREN from Princetown Primary School enjoyed a sneak preview of the National Trust?s Summer Sussed programme of activities for youngsters at Buckland Abbey near Yelverton recently. The children had the opportunity to dress up in costume, meet ?Sir Francis Drake? and take part in a variety of events including brass rubbing, archery, circus skills, Tudor musical instrument making, trails and hands-on crafts and workshops. Shona Owen for the National Trust said: ?There is a huge range of events and activities for children at National Trust properties this summer, ideal for parents and grandparents wanting to take the kids out on a good value, fun-filled day out. ?Many of the activities relate to the history of historic houses, bringing them to life in a way that?s both fun and exciting. ?And it?s not just our houses and gardens ? there are trails, themed walks and activities such as river-dipping at our countryside sites and coastal properties.? Details of activities available can be found on the website at http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk">www.nationaltrust.org.uk using the Summer Sussed link.
