THE Chagford branch of Cancer Research UK is holding its annual street market on Saturday, July 30.
The market, with stalls for cakes, plants, nearly-new clothes, books, bric-a-brac and more, will take place in Chagford Square from 9am to noon. Visitors can try their luck on the tombola or buy tickets to win prizes in the grand draw.
In the afternoon, the Jubilee Hall will host a bumper jumble sale from 2.30pm. For more information call Jane Bearder on 01647 433533.
Little Oke’s Nursery in Okehampton is hosting its first ever summer fete on Saturday, July 30.
The event will run 10am to 12pm and is open to all parents and children living in Okehampton or the surrounding area.
The fete will consist of a bouncy castle, cake stall, face painting as well as a hook-a-duck game.
Nursery manager Victoria Evans said: ‘We are inviting all of the local community to come along and support. Our aim is to raise enough money to fund new educational resources, we really wish to extend the children’s learning opportunities.
‘I would really like to become a nursery of the community. I really feel it is important for parents and familes to feel as though they truly know us.’
A display of radio-controlled flying model aircraft by Okehampton Model Flying Club will be one of the highlights of the summer fete at Lakeside Residential Home on July 30.
The club will be flying gliders, scale models, helicopters and quadcopters. The fete opens at 2pm but the flying will commence at noon.
This year’s fete will support Macmillan Cancer Support.
