GLORIOUS weather last weekend helped make Buckland Summer Fair a roaring success last Saturday.
The decision to hold the fair in the village street this year proved to be a very popular one, with many favourable comments on the fantastic atmosphere that existed throughout the day.
Children from Buckland Pre-school and St Andrew's Primary School started off the day's events with the traditional fancy dress parade.
There were many varied stalls and attractions to keep visitors entertained and the trips up to the top of the church tower and rides on the Segway machines proved very popular.
Gary Baird, chairman of the organising committee, said: 'The inaugural soapbox derby, with carts racing down the hill into the village, was very entertaining.
'This event will be repeated next year so you have plenty of time to break open the toolbox and build your wacky, gravity powered vehicles!'
More than £1,200 was raised on the day and the profits will be shared equally with the participating local groups.
The committee would like to thank all the local residents and businesses for their help and support and to the many volunteers that helped make the event such an enjoyable day.
