MARATHONS, swimathons, telethons — now a 'mathathon' is taking place in Tavistock to raise money for charity.
The initiative comes from the Kumon maths scheme, which complements the work children do at school.
Lora White of the Tavistock Kumon group said: 'The idea of the mathathon is to do as many sums as we can in ten minutes.'
All proceeds going to the NSPCC.
The mathathon takes place today (Thursday) in the Alexandra Centre at 3.45pm, when the Tavistock Kumon group race to complete as many sums as possible. The group, who are aged between seven and 14, are also hoping they beat the total of their nearest rivals at Plymstock.
