I WOULD like, through your newspaper, to express my gratitude to Westmoor Vets, who very kindly came to my rescue a few days ago.
In my garden there appeared a pigeon, unable to walk properly, or to fly. I phoned Westmoor Vets for advice and help, and was told that they would treat the bird if I could take it to them.
I explained that I am elderly, not used to handling birds or animals, and had to leave home shortly to keep an appointment.
Within minutes the Vets' Animal Ambulance arrived, and a very kind veterinary nurse expertly examined the pigeon.
Apparently it was a young one, uninjured, but very malnourished.
The nurse carefully took it away, and Westmoor Vets made no charge for this compassionate service. I am so grateful to them for their kindness and professionalism.
I'm sending this letter by e-mail — pigeon post would have been more appropriate!
