THE ever popular trials and family dog show, which is organised by a committee of farmers and parishioners, was once again a great success at the Whitchurch and Sampford Spiney Sheepdog Trials and Family dog Show on Saturday August 29, drawing in trialists and families from far and wide.

A large attendance along with some welcome sunshine made for a most enjoyable day raising approximately £2,500 for the Parish churches of Whitchurch and Sampford Spiney.

Tom Cox, a keen trialist, who was always instrumental in arranging this event, sadly died in May. He is greatly missed by all, and grateful thanks must go to Mrs Joan Cox and family for allowing the use of the field and for all their hard work.

The judge for the trials was Brian Duke.
