A CHEQUE for more than £4000 in aid of Children?s Hospice South West was presented at The Horn of Plenty Hotel and Restaurant at Gulworthy this week. The cash was raised from charity lunches held throughout January and February and joint owners Paul Roston and Peter Gorton presented a total of £4,406.25 to the charity?s regional fundraiser Abbie Smith last week. It is the second time The Horn of Plenty has run charity lunches in aid of the hospice and so far their customers have raised almost £10,000 in aid of Little Bridge House children?s hospice at Barnstaple. Abbie Smith said: ?We are extremely grateful to Peter and Paul and their customers at The Horn of Plenty for such a generous donation. The money raised is already making a real difference to the children and their families.? As well as running Little Bridge House, Children?s Hospice South West is hoping to raise £15 million for a second hospice, Charlton Farm near Bristol. This will give families the option to attend a hospice closer to home or take a break in a different area as well as providing much-needed additional capacity for Little Bridge House. Peter Gorton said he had more fundraising projects planned for this year including a new cook book called ?A Little Slice of Heaven? which contains recipes he devised with children at the hospice. ?The hospice is such a warm, loving place and the children and their families are so brave. I?m so thankful to our customers for their generosity and I want to do as much as I can to support the hospice,? he said.
