AN excited squad of swimmers from Tavistock Swimming Club make the journey to Bristol to swim in the first round of the National Arena League. Having formed new relationships with Okehampton Otters, four swimmers from Okehampton joined Tavistock to help strengthen the squad.
Spirits were high as the club were swimming in division two for the first time this year, having been promoted in 2010. With 17 top three finishes and and first places, Tavistock finished fourth out of the seven competing teams.
Individual first places were achieved by Cameron McGurk, Kieran Rookes, Kathryn Stacey and Matt Edwards. The boys U15s relay team of Cameron McGurk, Kieran Rookes, James Anderson and Harry Thompson won both their medley and freestyle relays in emphatic fashion and the mens open team of Nathaniel Rookes, Mike Best, Gareth Williams and Matt Edwards won their medley relay.
Swimming for the club for the first time were Jessamy Clemens, Jessica James, Molly Rickwood, Matthew Dennis and Angus Cunningham. Every swimmer did the team proud with their performance and the club is now looking forward to the second round in November.
