AN Okehampton College student is celebrating a superb seventh place in a national show jumping event held in Warwickshire this month.

Charlotte Rowe from Chagford, a member of the Mid Devon Hunt Pony Club, was riding Shanko Bay in the Dengie Winter League Show Jumping Championships. The event enables grass roots members of the Pony Club to take part in an event suited to their level of performance. 

Qualifying rounds are held throughout the winter, with more than 5,000 Pony Club members competing and more than 80 competitors taking part in the final, which was held at Warwickshire College in Morton Morrell.

Charlotte, aged 14, was a member of the National Tetrathlon Champion team — she is a successful eventer and hoping to compete in a one star event this year.
