THE Mount House first rugby team went to their first sevens tournament of the season at Sherborne. They started slowly, and after one win and three defeats in the group stage, went on to win the plate competition. In the semi-final they achieved an excellent win over Wells Cathedral by 19 points to nil, to set up a final clash with Hazlegrove, which they won 19 – 5, with tries from Rhys Davies (2) and Tim Pope, who also kicked one conversion. Five of the Mount House team – Harry Heal, Tim Pope, Mikey Cousens, Rhys Davies and Louis Ferguson - have been selected to play for Devon Prep Schools in the annual match against Somerset Prep Schools. The Colts A team played well in their match against Stover School, running in 10 tries for a 56–10 victory. l Mount House girls' hockey teams played two matches against Stover, winning one, drawing one. In the first clash Mount House played a team game, with accurate passing and skilful use of space. Mount House were five goals up at half-time and added two more for a 7-0 victory. In the U11s match Stover scored a goal early in the second period after a goalless first half but Mount House responded well, with persistent attacks. They missed several scoring opportunities before Poppy Hartley scored with a reverse stick shot to equalise the game in the dying seconds. l Mount House boys' squash team followed up its win over Kelly College with a two games to one home victory over Fort Stamford. Results: William Steed won 3-2; Timothy Pope won 3-1; Dominic Scaglioni lost 1-3.
