Yelverton 2nd XI v Heathcoat 2nd XI
YELVERTON 2nds finished their League season off in style with an emphatic 10 wicket victory over visiting Heathcoat (Tiverton). Tiverton won the toss and elected to bat on a sunny afternoon at Langton Park. Yelverton's opening bowler, Heath, struck immediately, removing Blake for 1. Heathcoat's No 3, Smith, soon followed, the bowler once again Heath.
With opener Davies looking comfortable at one end, things did not look too bad for Heathcoat, but first Heath enduced him to edge behind to the keeper and then Roe sent back Gregson and Hawkins in consecutive overs to leave the score on a more rocky 56-6.
Despite some stubborn resistance from the lower order Heathcoat were eventually dismissed for 80 off 33 overs. Heath (4-35) and Treweeks (3-10) were Yelverton's most successful bowlers.
Yelverton's response could best be described as 'brutal' with openers Degg and Carr setting about the Heathcoat bowlers with gusto. The score raced along to the 81 runs required off only 9.4 overs, with Degg ending up unbeaten on 32 and Carr on 48 not out.
The points gained from this victory pushed Yelverton up to a respectable fifth place in the Devon League B Division.
