A GROUP of students from Tavistock College reckon they are well on target to raising £1,000, to be put towards an electric wheelchair for a fellow student. Year 11 students Adam Minns and Matt Edmunds, supported by Gary Toms and Tom Campbell, ran four 25-lap mini-marathons around the school grounds this month, to raise money to help buy a new wheelchair for 12-year-old Emma Ruskin. Tony Welsh, head of Year 11, said the school was delighted with the boys? efforts: ?It?s such a wonderful thing to have done, I think it?s absolutely amazing. ?It?s been a real fillip for these boys, they came up with the idea; it was totally unsolicited, they did it all themselves, got the sponsor forms, advertised it ? they did it all.? Mr Welsh said as a result of the run, a parent who has connections with a mobility firm is now also involved in the campaign to get Emma a new wheelchair. ?It?s engendered a lot of interest,? said Mr Welsh.
