THREE students from Callington Community College took to the stage at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth to perform in Matthew Bourne's production of Lord of the Flies. The students — Lloyd Lovell, year 12, Sam Parham, year 10, and Matt Martin, year 11 — were among the cast of 22 dancers, along with a former student Michael O'Reilly. They were selected following their participation in workshops held earlier in the year in which 400 other hopeful youngsters from the South West took part. The production was choreographed by Scott Ambler and adapted and directed by Matthew Bourne and Scott Ambler. As the school boys find themselves abandoned in a deserted theatre, William Golding's legendary characters are brought to life with raw energy, emotional intensity and breath-taking performances. The dancers have been rehearsing for the past six months with more intensive rehearsals of eight hours nearly every day over the past month. The whole college was extremely proud of the students and congratulated them for their achievements.
