NEARLY 100 members of Tavistock-based All Out Performing Arts recently passed LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) exams, many with distinction.

Over an intensive examination day, All Out students performed in categories ranging from monologue and duologue work to group performance in music theatre and drama. The examiner praised the high standard of the students.

After many years of working with Trinity Guildhall as the group's examination board and Grade 8 students gaining a prestigious international award for work of an exceptionally high standard, All Out decided to try a new challenge and entered LAMDA.

'The decision obviously paid off and we are all delighted with the results,' said Julian Barnacott, who runs All Out Performing Arts with Suzanne Sanders.

'We believe this has once again put young people in Tavistock and the surrounding area firmly on the map for achievement and ability in the performing arts. Anyone regarding this area as some kind of cultural backwater should take a look at our students and think again.'

All Out is currently preparing informal performances for the end of term and entering singing students for examinations with the London College of Music in July. Meanwhile, the company prepares to swing into action for its annual Performing Arts Summer School which is now on its 17th year.

The event which creates and stages new music theatre productions will be running at the end of July and beginning of August in the Village Centre in Princetown. Summer School is nearly full but there a handful of places still available in both junior and senior weeks for people between the ages of seven and eighteen.
