TAVISTOCK College's AS and A Level Performance Studies students were busy at the beginning of March as three groups presented unique performances as part of their coursework. The three performances included: 'Cabaret', 'A-Lad-In-Tavy', and 'Banter in the Bandstand'.
First, the Year 12 Performance Studies A level group performed their version of a classic panto, 'A-Lad-In-Tavy'. It followed the story of Aladin combined with a local historical tale. The group scripted the entire piece, choreographed all the dances and composed the score.
Next, 'Banter at the Bandstand' was performed when four talented year twelve students took to the stage and created a dynamic performance inspired by 16th century art form of Commedia Dell' Arte. The students who performed were: Nick Bennett, James Lamey, Lydia Stephens, Harriet Spencer.
Finally, five members of the AS performance studies class performed a 'Cabaret' style evening at Tavistock Football Club.
Their aim was to incorporate a local story within a cabaret style for the community. The evening was packed with lots of singing, dancing and acting and involved a lot of jokes aimed at the Tavistock community. The company involved Phoebe Adams, Tor Hudswell, Emma Elder, Kieron McClary and Bryony Smith.
