SHEBBEAR College has awarded its first London Academy of Dramatic Arts Gold Medal with honours.
The highest accolade was given to boarder Alice Cooper, 18, who staff are predicting will bring fame to the college with an Oscar in years to come.
The drama and theatre studies student, who is the niece of director of music at the college Kevin Parker from Okehampton, has worked her way through the grades since joining the college in 1999.
She has gained bronze and silver LAMDA medals and was determined to achieve the highest award before her departure to drama school next year.
The college has been running the examinations for ten years but this is the first time someone has achieved gold with honours.
Deputy head Annie Farrell said: ?Clear communication is essential to succeed in all walks of life and confidence in language arts is just one way.
?Alice?s achievement is tremendous and is valued highly be her teachers who recognise her talent and look forward to her receiving an Oscar one day.?
