TAVISTOCK College musicians played to fellow students in a fundraising concert to raise money for Haiti this month.
A group of GCSE music students planned and performed the gig in the college's hall, dubbed 'Hope for Haiti'.
Drummer Callum Coley; guitarists Josh Hocking, James Court, Ross Davies and Josh Smallacombe and bassist Rob raised £101.15 from staff and fellow students who paid to see them play rock anthems by Guns and Roses and Metallica.
Ross said: 'We decided to help the people of Haiti after we heard about the disaster.
'We've played together a bit before and wanted to use our music to make a difference.'
Tavistock College students have already raised £3651.82 for ShelterBox since the earthquake hit Haiti, bringing the total to £3752.97.
Callum added: 'We'd seen our local charity ShelterBox helping and thought people enjoy music so why not create a concert to raise money and help people in Haiti.
'We're pleased with the way it went, especially the number of people who came.'
Their teacher, Sarah Pappin, said the gig was absolutely brilliant. She praised the students for coming up with the concept themselves and following it through.
'They were so passionate about it and inspired so many of the younger students,' she said.
'It's the first charity concert we've done and based on the success of this there will be many more.
'We're planning to do a small one in the music department every other Friday to raise money for extra equipment and give more students the chance to perform in front of a crowd.'
