Okehampton Squash Club's first team continued their strong start to the season with a victory at home against Plymouth University - to make it four wins out of four to top Devon Mixed League, division four.

The clubs second team has also hit form and has won their last two matches against Newton Abbot and Crediton to move them up the table in division five.

In the first teams fixture against Plymouth University, Paul Burrows at string five won a closely fought contest 3-2, whilst Phil Allin at four just lost in another closely fought contest. Phil Kemsley at three had a comfortable victory 3-0, never really looked in any trouble. Arnie Searle at two played some excellent squash during a match which had some gruelling rallies but just lost 3-2, to make it 2-2 matches each. Clive Marais at one came through 3-1 in a match played to a very high standard.

The team therefore won the fixture 3-2, equating to a 17-9 point victory. Their next match is a top of the table clash against Torquay four.

Okehampton seconds enjoyed their first win of the season with a hard working home performance against Newton Abbot four.

The team started strongly with both Ed Bewes and Shane Vallance showing good perseverance to come from behind to win 3-2. Okehampton then lost the next two string matches 3-0, with Simon McKinnel coming up against a good strong young opponent and Dave Hardwood finding his game just too late in the match.

This left the result hanging on the second string match contested by Chris Law. Chris played well and eventually took control of the final game and his winning stroke meant that victory for the team was secured.

The seconds then travelled to Crediton where they enjoyed a resounding victory, by 18 points to 4.

Both Sue Stanbury and Simon McKinnel were too strong for their opponents, taking their matches 3-0. Playing at three Shane Vallance had a straightforward victory, also taking his match 3-0. Chris Law and Ed Bewes, playing two and one respectively saw Chris lose 1-3 to his hard hitting opponent, while Ed won 3-1.
