A DARTMOOR Prison charity which helps inmates keep close links with their children has won another award for its work.

The nationally renowned Storybook Dads was honoured in the Third Sector Excellence Awards.

The charity helps fathers and mothers serving jail sentences to write and record stories which their children can then play back at home.

Last year, 4,000 CDs were made and sent out to 12,000 children.

Fifty-five jails now run the storybook scheme, which was formed in 2003 by Plymouth mum Sharon Berry.

Currently the charity is editing bedtime stories read by RAF personnel based in Afghanistan.
