THE Okehampton Golf Club Junior Open took place on Sunday week under cloudless skies and saw some excellent scoring from home and away junior golfers.
More than 90 golfers took part from all over the county with ages ranging from 9 to 18 and handicaps of 5 to 49.
Steven Hill, the Okehampton Junior captain, went round in a brilliant 70 (46 points) to win both the division 1 stableford and the scratch prize.
Darren Prouse pushed him all the way in the scratch competition with 71 (48 points) which was only good enough for second place in division 2, such was the quality of the scoring.
Jonny Rattenbury rounded off a great day for the home golfers by winning division 3 with 46 points.
The event was held in conjunction with Okehampton?s home match in the East Devon Junior League. Okehampton?s combined score of 261 has pushed them back to the top of the table with four matches to play.

Novices: 1st, Oliver Kirby, 43 pts, Okehampton (back 9); 2nd, Robert Stepto, 43 pts, Okehampton.
