TEAMS from Tavistock and Okehampton colleges were among 50 entries from the South West at the Schools' Marine Challenge recently which took place at Roadford Reservoir.
Schools were invited to enter a team for the competition to build and race model boats powered by either solar energy, electric motor or a petrol engine.
The event is about introducing students to the world of marine engineering whilst focusing on technology-based subjects.
It has been running since 2002.
The climax of the challenge was race day where all the schools, together with representatives from the marine industry, came together to see the teams' efforts.
The overall winner of the challenge was the team from Teignmouth.
