VISITORS will be transported back to the Victorian era at Lydford Gorge this Sunday, July 1. With the arrival of the railway in Lydford on 1st July 1865,the Gorge became a popular destination for a day-out in the countryside. Catherine Maddern, visitor services manager said: ?The Victorian Day aims to provide a snapshot of what life was like in Victorian times with children?s toys and games in the orchard, a Silver Band playing, a children?s trail along the old Great Western Railway line at the waterfall entrance looking at Victorian Inventions, an artist painting at the base of the waterfall, and a photo board for visitors to use to take photos dressed as a Victorian.? Local author, Tania Ann Crosse, will also be in the shop signing copies of her Victorian novel, Morwellham?s Child.
