Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 3

Mary Tavy 4

Maker With Rame 2

A SPIRITED Tavy performance resulted in them finally breaking the voodoo Maker have held over them over the past few seasons.

The opening goal came from a corner for Tavy which was flicked on at the near post by Shaun James and met with some force by Alan Grylls who made no mistake.

Before Maker made any real recovery it was two as the tireless Coole twisted and turned before crossing to the feet of Ben Stephens whose low shot from close range passed through the keeper?s legs.

Tavy were cruising only to be dealt the first of two blows. Unlucky defender and captain Nick Jones saw his challenge result in a penalty and Maker pulled one back.

Still on top Tavy had Dominic Reeves to thank as his superb long range effort virtually flew into the Maker net, giving the keeper no chance.

Before the close of the half Maker received their second spot kick with again Jones the unfortunate culprit. The same player stepped up to bury his shot into the opposite corner to his last effort.

At 3-2 Tavy seemed a little dismayed but managed to come around to put in a class second half performance and were finally rewarded with a penalty of their own as Brockington?s shot was handled. Ben Stephens was given the chance and scored his 15th of the season.

There were excellent performances from Ian Hunter and Gareth Patton in the Tavy rearguard.
