OKEHAMPTON ladies? hockey team never injected the pace of enthusiasm to take a grip on this game.
They could have scored early on but Mannamead began to threaten the Okehampton goal. Carol Taylor was quickly out at their corners giving them no time to strike the ball and it looked as though the Okehampton defence could cope with the opposition attack.
Unfortunately a misunderstanding between Okehampton players led to the ball being cleared straight to a Mannamead attacker who knocked it into goal.
Columbines were better in the second half. Beccy Mortimore took control of the middle and it was her goal that gave Okehampton the draw.
Okehampton looked like they could win but a questionable penalty against them decided the match in the dying minutes. Under pressure, Sharon Stephens did well to produce a good save.
This week, Okehampton play a friendly away against Chudleigh.
