WATERAID is calling on walkers and climbers to don their boots and take on Dartmoor's finest tors to raise vital funds for some of the world's poorest people.
On Saturday June 16 the charity's new mountain challenge event, the WaterAid 200, aims to put a team on the top of the 200 best hills and mountains in the UK and Ireland, as chosen by WaterAid supporters.
The charity hopes to raise £200,000 for its work to improve access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene in Nepal, where people in remote rural villages can face arduous treks along treacherous paths to find water which is often dirty and unsafe to drink.
Four Dartmoor tors made the final list, including High Willhays, which at just over 2,000 feet is the highest point in the UK south of the Brecon Beacons, and Hound Tor, which is said to have inspired Arthur Conan Doyle's famous Sherlock Holmes adventure, The Hound of the Baskervilles.
