THE continuity of the traditional Dartmoor Stepdance is assured each year by the Dartmoor Folk Festival, held in South Zeal, with its competitions in the art. Through the year the continuity of teaching and learning of the art is provided by those who love to share the stepdance music and movement with others. On Saturday, December 8 at the Three Crowns, Chagford, there is an evening of tuition free of charge. At 6pm there will be a stepdance workshop for which no experience is necessary ? learn the basic steps or improve the ones you already know. Also at 6pm there will be a tune workshop providing an opportunity to learn the traditional stepdance tunes and how to play them. Rounding off the evening with a session starting at 8pm, there is the opportunity for everyone to try out new steps in an informal environment.
