visitors to the Tavistock Group of Artists? exhibition were asked to vote for one of their favourite paintings in the show and one by a new member. The honours went to Ian Pethers for his railway painting ?City of Truro? and to new member Gaylies Gibson for her floral landscape ?Lavender fields, Provence?. Railway painting is a new venture for Ian who is a member of the Royal Miniature Society. He has a studio next to Gunnislake Station which he will open as part of the Open Studios project next month. Gaylies Gibson taught herself to paint after being inspired by the rich autumnal colours of the woodlands. Dartmoor?s heather and gorse have supplied inspiration and recently the purple hues of the lavender fields of Provence. Ian and Gaylies will receive their trophies on September 4 during the enrolment evening which starts at 7.30pm in Kingdon House. If anyone wishes to join the TGA at any level of painting, contact Ian on 01822 8342989 for more information.
