OKEHAMPTON residents are being urged to have their say at a special meeting being held next week, regarding a controversial proposal to erect three 81-metres high wind turbines on farmland near the town. The public meeting has been called by the Okehampton and Dartmoor Against Turbines (ODAT) group, a newly-formed campaign group opposing the turbine proposals for Yelland Farm. The public meeting, which will be held in the Charter Hall, Okehampton, on Wednesday March 20, will be attended by TV broadcaster and businessman Noel Edmonds, Jonathan Cardale, of the Dartmoor Preservation Association, a representative from South West Tourism and a representative from West Coast Energies, the company behind the wind turbine proposal. Following these speakers, there will be an opportunity for questions from the floor. The meeting begins at 7pm. For information, call 01837 55979.
