THE state of the main road surface into Tavistock was called into question during a meeting in the town last week.
Cllr Anne Johnson, the town mayor, asked Cllr Debo Sellis, Tavistock's county councillor, to make enquiries about Plymouth Road, which was only re-surfaced at the end of last year.
Cllr Johnson, during last week's town council meeting, said: 'Will the county do a review? There are quite a few large puddles occurring when it rains. They are mainly by the crossing, and if it freezes, they are going to be very dangerous.'
Cllr Sellis told members the county councillor was 'flooded' with highways issues at the moment due to the recent bad weather.
'You are dead right though,' said Cllr Sellis. 'They will inspect it and if it's not right, South West Highways will have to look into it. Clearly this is not good enough.'
