LAST week I had the pleasure to accept an invitation from the Mayor of Pontivy, our twin town, to visit for their bi-annual Foire Exposition.
Also there was the Tavistock Stannary Brass Band, as guests of the Pontivy l'Orchestre d'Harmonie, and I would like to record publicly my congratulations and thanks to the band on their splendidly successful visit.
They proved themselves excellent ambassadors for Tavistock, and indeed Britain, as the warmth and enthusiasm with which they were greeted made evident.
I am sure that the long-standing friendship between Tavistock and Pontivy has been further strengthened by their visit.
