Torrington U16s 10

Tavistock U16s 27

TAVISTOCK U16s first Landscape League fixture of the season was an away match at Torrington.

With only 15 available players,  Tavistock started the match slightly nervy but quickly gained their composure on a sloping pitch.

Despite Torrington's bulk, Tavy's technical prowess shone from the outset with an individually brilliant try from Captain Ali Dawe, successfully converted by Ed Longden.  Three further first half tries followed from Ali Dawe, Hallam Bourton and Richie Coker, without response to give Tavistock a 0-22 lead.  Torrington, with both size and down slope advantage in the second half started much the stronger and gained an early try.  Clearly buoyed by this early success, and with some of Tavistock's players not fully match fit, the pressure began to tell with a second Torrington try 20 minutes into the second half.  With yet another impressive performance by the Tavistock pack, the visitors did not buckle under Torrington's pressure and dominant play by Zac Cinnamond, Harry Birt and Ben Parkin took charge of the physical game, permitting Ali Dawe to cap an outstanding performance with his third try of the match to seal victory.

There were many impressive performances but joint men of the match go to Luke Green (full back) and Callum McCormick (inside centre) who both had an outstanding game.

Training will be Thursday 6.15pm until 8pm at the club. There will be a team meeting between 6.15pm and 6.30pm which all players should attend.
