JUDGES of the Okehampton Battle of the Bands had the toughest challenge of the contest last Thursday, with nine talented bands to choose from for the hotly anticipated final.
Bands showed off their musical skills to judges and youngsters who turned out in force at the Charter Hall, Okehampton to witness the originality of each band.
The competition saw bands give their all for that chance of playing at the battle final in Simmons Park this Saturday.
The running order for heat three saw Dead Android, Huron, Go Green Monkey, Electric Shepherds, The Adventures Of, Obsessed by Chance, The Rock of Ages, Cable Car Catastrophe, and The Pretty Jacks go head to head.
Winner of the heat was three-piece Halwill band The Adventures of . . . , who wowed the crowds with their original sounding songs and their energetic presence on stage.
Second place was awarded to heavy metal rock band from Plymouth, Huron, for their extreme musical abilities.
Third place went to Barnstaple band Cable Car Catastrophe who are on the reserve list if a band cannot make it to final of the competition.
Organiser of the competition, Richard Appleby, said the night was a huge success.
'I am glad I didn't have to judge the night as it was such a close call, especially between four of the bands.
'I thought the strong and supportive atmosphere that night was magical — especially the way all the bands supported each other.
'There will be six different acts at the final which will be amazing.
'Everyone is invited to enjoy the biggest party Okehampton has ever seen.'
Underclass Strife, the Yum Yums, Tom Guest, Fieldmarshall Gorsefinger, The Adventures Of and Huron will be performing at the final.
The headlining guest band at the final will be the world-class tribute act, the Beatlez, from Liverpool.
Richard added that people should try to get to the event at 6pm, as the first band will be on at 6.30pm sharp. Hot food and drink will be available all evening.
