OKEHAMPTON Golf Club held a 3 Ball Better Ball stableford on Saturday. The course was perfect, which resulted in the following first class results: Div One Gareth Holt, Harold Penna and Ken Peckham with 89pts, second Geof May, Nick Hobbs and Alan Hough with 86pts and third Martin Cox, Kevin Pedrick and John Mansell 85pts. Div Two was won by Rob Simpson, Martin Aggett and Mike Charlesworth 86pts, second Brian May, David Turner and Robin Webb 83pts and third was Brian Kelly, Colin Cornwall and Fred Scott Lawson with 8 (back 6 countback). New members are welcome at all times and the committee will be hosting two ?Come and Try? events, one on Sunday, October 15 at 2.30 pm and the other on October 17 from 4pm. All welcome: men, ladies and juniors. Okehampton Golf Club held their Mixed Greensomes Open on Sunday. With the format a Stableford, scoring was good for the home and away teams. Winning the first prize for a visitors? team were Mr and Mrs B John from Teignmouth,with 37pts. Second also with 37pts was Mr and Mrs Turrell from Enmore Park and third with 36 pts were Mr and Mrs Froude from Stover. The Home first prize was won by Mr and Miss Smallridge, 43pts; 2nd with 41pts, Mr and Mrs P Stunell; 3rd with 38pts Mr M Hill and Miss L Hazelton. Seventh overall: Mr J Morey and Miss L Rolfe with 38 pts. On Thursday the Veterans? section had a 5-1 win against Tiverton. The ladies lost the semi final of the President?s Trophy 4-3 to Dainton Park at Crediton. Winning the Cancer Spoon and the Bronze Division was Pat Kirby with a wonderful front 9 of 23pts followed by a steady back 9 making the winning score of 38 points and a hcp reduction to 27. Second was Janet Hatch with 32pts and third Gladys Thatcher 31. Winning the Silver Division was Lin Atkinson 36 pts, second Dawn Phillott 35 and third Mary Keir 34.
