ANYONE wishing to undertake some voluntary work in Okehampton but only has a small amount of time to give up need look no further than the St John Ambulance,
The Okehampton division is in search of a volunteer duty co-ordinator, but unlike other roles in the brigade you do not need any first aid or medical knowledge to carry it out.
The job involves taking bookings for first aid cover from local event organisers and organising how many and which first aiders will be required for duties.
Superintendent Paul Yelland said the person who was doing the job had unfortunately had to give it up because of college commitments.
'The job is too much for a first aider to do because they are already busy with duties so that is why we are looking for someone outside the brigade,' he said. 'They do not have to become a member or go out on duties and all they need is access to a telephone.'
Ideally, the brigade wants someone with good writing skills and a good telephone manner. Candidates have to be over 18 years of age.
Anyone interested should write to: The Officer in Charge, St John Ambulance Okehampton Division, Mill Road, Okehampton, EX20 1PS or telephone 01837 52210 and leave you name, address and telephone number.
