SPREYTON has been praised for its peacefulness and friendliness as the winner in the best small village category in this year?s Best Kept Village Competition. Before last Wednesday?s Spreyton Parish Council meeting, Helen Harris, of the Devonshire Association, presented the Campaign To Protect Rural England shield and commemorative green street sign. The prize also includes a certificate and £100 in tokens to be spent in the village. The judges awarded a very high mark to the village which was found to be tidy with well signed footpaths and a welcoming pub and shop. The noticeboard in the village hall was informative and up to date as was the village website. Judges said Spreyton conveyed ?a feeling of orderliness, peace and friendliness? and noted that there was evidence of a high level of commitment to its care. The Best Kept Village competition is organised by CPRE and sponsored by Mole Valley Farmers.
