THE work of West Devon's Youth Action Team comes under the spotlight next week as its achievements are put on show to the public.
During the last 12 months, the team — part of West Devon Community Safety Partnership — has supported a number of key projects within West Devon. It has provided small grants to get projects off the ground, provided funds for additional equipment, money for transport costs and professional coaching advice, and improvements to current facilities.
Projects include the Tavistock youth café project, being co-ordinated by the town's Youth Council; skatepark projects in Okehampton and Tavistock; North Tawton Basketball Club; Stannary Brass Band and Mary Tavy Youth Club.
An exhibition of the work by the young people will go on public display at Meldon Village Hall on Wednesday April 28 from 6.30pm.
The Youth Action Team is one of seven priority areas that West Devon Community Safety Partnership has targeted in its latest three-year strategy.
The Partnership is part of the Government's co-ordinated approach to safety in the community.
The West Devon Partnership's statutory members include the Borough Council, Devon County Council and Devon and Cornwall Police, Devon Fire and Rescue and health organisations.
Other key players in the partnership include youth services, probation, social services and Dartmoor National Park.
