TAVISTOCK skaters have arranged a series of events to raise funds towards building a skate park in the town.
Taviskate will be taking a stall at the next farmers' market in Bedford Square this Saturday between 9am-1pm, when the Taviskate design hoodie and t-shirt will be on sale.
A skate demo organised by Tavistock skaters Richard Porter and Richard Gee is being held on the same day at the ramp in Bensons Meadow between 2-4pm. Prizes will be awarded to the skateboarder, BMXer and skater who pulls the most impressive trick.
A draw is also being held, with a host of prizes from businesses in the town. Tickets have now gone on sale and the draw will be made on Saturday, October 5.
The next skaters' meeting takes place on Wednesday, October 2, with the group meeting in the Wharf carpark at 6pm.
All members will be welcome to contribute ideas on how the skatepark should be run and how new skaters can be encouraged.
This is an essential part of the sports development plan required for a successful Sport England lottery bid. The bid is currently being prepared by Taviskate members in conjunction with officers of West Devon Borough Council, Tavistock Town Council and Youthwize.
