CROWDS flocked to an event in Tavistock last Saturday, aimed at highlighting how householders and businesses could reduce their carbon footprints. Companies and organisations specialising in the implementation of energy saving devices were on hand to give advice and information on how to reduce energy consumption. Visitors to the event could listen to a seminar introduced by West Devon and Torridge MP Geoffrey Cox and were invited to fill out survey forms initiated by the town council, which was trying to gauge how important climate change and its effects were to residents. Deputy mayor of Tavistock Anne Johnson said: 'I think the day was a great success. 'Lots of people were very keen to learn and there were a lot of people completing our surveys.' Cllr Johnson said she thought the event had been a very worthwhile exercise — the town council would now be evaluating the responses to the survey before coming up with a policy to move forward on the issue of climate change.
