SPORTY types in Okehampton were able to try out as many as 40 different activities on offer throughout the action-packed Okehampton Sportsweek. There was a record number of entries in the five-a-side football competition which was the climax of a wide range of activities in Simmons Park, including tennis, hockey and mountain biking. With 40 teams entering the football challenge, drawn from all across Devon, the eventual winners were local team D E Love Machine, comprising Rob Clarke, James Williams, David Wills, Steve Kinsey, Phil Evans, Mark Hampton, Matthew Mortimore and Gary Hunt. The netball and rounders competitions were also well subscribed. Organiser Stuart Lord, of OCRA, said it had been a ?really good week? with the focus on ?people coming along and trying out new things?. ?We are already looking to hold an even better sportsweek in 2006,? he said. Any clubs or sports organisations that want to get involved next year should contact OCRA on 01837 54546.
