RUNNING, hopping, Zumba, hula-hooping, bopping and even singing made it onto the Sport Relief agenda last week as schools across the area got involved in the charity drive.

At Tavistock College students joined together in the spirit of ‘doing something you are proud of’. During PE lessons and at lunchtimes they made a voluntary donation to run one mile or more around the track. Other challenges involved being inventive on how the mile was completed and dressing up as an athlete for the lesson. More than £100 was raised on the day.

At Mary Tavy and Brentor Primary?School children came dressed in red and took part in an hour-long non-stop try-athon where they tried out six different activities including a song and dance-a-thon and a ping-pong-a-thon. They also made colourful trainer boxes which they are using to collect sponsorship.

A Zumba session at Lew Trenchard Primary?School was great fun and at Lydford primary there was a sponsored swim.

Other schools ran a mile and took part in other sports like skipping.
