NOT rubies but china will be the ultimate goal for local competitors in Sunday?s Ruby Run half marathon.

The winning male and female runners who live in Ruby Country will receive limited edition, numbered ?Mera Trays?, made by Spode, and worth around £95 each.

The trays are being presented by Pam Hodgkinson, owner of the Tussie Two china shop in Hatherleigh, which is one of the race?s sponsors.

Pam said: ?The Ruby Run this year ends 100 metres past our shop in Bridge Street so we wanted to offer a special award for runners actually living in the Ruby Country area.

?These trays are ideal, they are part of the latest Spode ?Java? and ?Sumatra? ranges and will grace anyone?s living room or kitchen.

?Spode items like this generally gain in value over time so I hope that the trays will stay in Ruby Country for a long time and become family heirlooms.?

The Ruby Run half marathon starts in Holsworthy at 10.30am on Sunday June 13 and finishes in Hatherleigh ? this year?s race will raise funds for CLIC and Hatherleigh and Holsworthy Day Centres.
