A SPONSORED aquafit challenge at Meadowlands in Tavistock went swimmingly well recently, raising more than £800 for the Voluntary Service Overseas charity. Members of the aquafit classes — 20 women and one man — took part in the challenge, which was to keep going for two hours instead of the usual one hour. Not all managed the two hours, but everyone raised some money, with the prize for the biggest collection going to Marcia Kelly, who raised £148. The regional manager of Meadowlands donated the pool time and cost of the two teachers. Carol Dummett, a receptionist and swimming teacher at the pool, gave her time and enthusiasm to get the project going. Those taking part were invited to tea, coffee and cake afterwards in the cafe to recover. Everyone who took part, donated money or sponsored volunteers was thanked. There will be A Girls' Night Out in aid of the charity at Tavistock College in May.
