Dart A 3

WITH both teams fighting to stay in their division this week's match was important to both sides.

A bright afternoon saw an even start until Dart scrambled the ball over keeper Neil Kelly's pads to open the score. Ten minutes later Dart crashed a penalty corner home to go 2-0 up. Tavistock did not drop their heads and began to swing the game their way. Winning their own penalty corner they wrong-footed the Dart defence and Josh Reynolds confidently swept the ball into the goal. Seconds before the half-time whistle Tavistock equalised when a superb through-ball from Ricky Bellard found Lloyd Collin who took on and committed the keeper before pushing the ball into the goal.

An exciting second half saw more attacking play. Dart struck another superb penalty corner to lead once more but Tavistock responded with a series of attacks. Home captain Dave Anning was unlucky when the whistle blew in his favour as he struck the ball into the Dart goal. Moments later a Tavistock penalty flick was saved by the keeper. Although Dart continued to break up the left side Tavistock looked in control and it was no surprise when the equaliser came; Reynolds made the most of half a chance, turning and deftly flicking the ball into the goal from the back stick. Further attacks were denied and the draw leaves both teams still poised on the edge of relegation.
