RESIDENTS from Buckland Monachorum, Yelverton and surrounding areas are being invited to a special event on Saturday, October 9, which is aimed at raising awareness of properties for local people and getting all-important housing information to those who need it.

It will take place in Buckland Monachorum Village Hall between 10am and noon, alongside the regular coffee morning.

Housing advisors will be on hand to discuss the new developments at Cuxton Meadows, and Briar Tor in Yelverton, which are being built for Tor Homes in partnership with West Devon Borough Council.

The developments, which are due for completion by the end of the year, are made up of 16 properties at Cuxton Meadows and 12 at Briar Tor, all for rent. Permission was granted for the properties by Dartmoor National Park Authority, with the express condition that they must go to local people with a housing need. Both local borough councillors Margaret Garton and Philip Sanders will be at the event and hope that people who qualify for housing of this type will come along to find out more.
