A WEST Devon couple have reached quite a milestone in their married life, celebrating 70 years together.
George and Pat Finegan, aged 87 and 88, last week celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary with the help of their family and friends.
Mr Finegan was a member of the NAAFI at Harrowbeer, and met his wife at an all ranks dance. The couple soon married in 1942 at the church in Buckland Monachorum and spent the first 50 years of their married life living in the village. They then moved to Bishopsmead in Tavistock where they still live now.
Mr and Mrs Finegan had two children, daughter Virginia and a son, John, who died aged 47. They have three grandchildren, Paul, Nicholas and Lewis and two great grandsons.
The couple's family and friends visited them during the day to help them celebrate their milestone.
